day 3 mockers building nest

The mocking birds are still building their nest now on day 3. It must be taking them a bit longer because I have things to do in MY yard and when I am out there, they dissappear. I spent the morning using the strength of a needed man removing two hibiscus bushes to use the space for two butterfly bushes for my butterflies. I took my life or sight in my hands, and peeked in when they were gone and the shell of the nest is done. By this picture, it looks like they are adding a softer fill part now. I love how he lands on my nude beach sign before entering the hibiscus tree where the nest is. In his mouth is cotton looking stuff. But, I am not sure he ever got to put it in the nest because he spotted a third mocker on the fence about 20 feet from his nest and he charged it like a bull. Last night was interesting around here too watching the goings on before night fall. A red male cardinal that visits our feeder a few times a day charged into the hibiscus tree quite intentionally and matter a factly where they are building their nest. There was a fight that took place whereby they chased each other around the yard like freaks, darting back and forth so fast I nearly got a kink in my neck whipping around to look. Quite entertaining for me and my cats!
