As I am photographing my first black swallowtail of the season, I unintentially capture why a black snake is needed in every garden. I talk about black snakes in a prior post. We saw the first black snake of this season yesterday. The butterfly is being threatened by not one lizard but two, and maybe many more I don't capture. You can see the lizards bottom end and tail quite clearly, but, above the butterfly and to the right you can see the long tail of another.
