baby mourning dove learning to use feeder

We have a fledgling mourning dove learning to eat at the feeder. Here he is being supervised by mama yesterday. This morning he was at the feeder himself at 7 am when I pulled the blinds open. He was just sitting there like babies do kinda not knowing really too much what to do. As I was having my coffee an enormous hawk with a belly the size of a football, flew through the backyard real low, and very close to him. The little guy reacted appropriately. He flattened himself like a pancake to the pavers and didn't move. The hawk sat on the fence and then took off again over him and right passed the feeder landing on the other side of the yard, fence. That's when I promptly got up and darted toward him to chase him away. Mission accomplished. The little dove didn't move but the hawk flew away.
