Cardinals Feeding is a Shared Responsibility

Here is Mama feeding her baby girl from their favorite feeder. I removed the glass from an old standing candle holder that I wasn't using and put it out with feed. Turns out they love it for so many reasons. It is positioned so it is well hidden, under queen palm tree with two sides protected by high bushes and a  vinyl fence behind. It is the perfect height to allow their superman flight at ~ 3 feet off the ground directly into it going 100 miles an hour. It also has the perfect landing spots with its wrought iron design if they prefer to land just outside the feeder. You can see the baby is protectively hidden securely underneath the feeder too which is so sweet.  Eventually Papa cardinal thought he could do a better job feeding his girl so he threw Mama out and took over.  They seem to be cracking the sunflower seeds and feeding her those over whatever else is in there.
This pic cracks me up when the babe notices they are gone and no more food is coming down.
