Pretty Ducks

It's breeding and nesting season and the ducks are waddling in odd places in our subdivision. Napping in front yards, taking walks like humans on sidewalks, crossing roadways by foot and taking off from them like a airplane runway.  These guys happened to come right up to us sitting on my neighbors property edge.
I have no idea what kind of ducks these are. The female looks Mottled or Black and Mottled, and the male looks Mottled and Mallard. Crossbreeding is why the Mottled Ducks are in trouble in the state of Florida.

I inquired at whatbirds.com and here is what I found out

"Those look like Mottled x Mallards (American Black Ducks are pretty rare that far south). The male has that little curl in above the tail that indicates Mallard ancestry, and the female seems to lack the obvious dark gape of a pure Mottled." - per darknight Wandering Birder
