Today both mockers were out of the nest and all was quiet so while my husband patrolled the skies for me, I took a chance and popped my head into the hibiscus tree to see what was going on. Careful not to touch anything I used my small potting shovel to separate the leaves enough to see the nest and held my camera with the other hand. All the while, hubby is telling me to hurry up, he hears them coming, and not touch anything. Of course, goodie two shoes didn't want me to even do it but I couldn't resist! Nerve-racking to say the least! 3 beautiful eggs, light turquoise blue with cinnamon brown spots. So pretty! A few snaps later I was outta there just in time as both came back unaware of the goings on, I think... It seems the eggs would have been laid between April 27-29th. Incubating should take 10-13 days. 6 days to teach them to fly when they still stay with their parents but leave the nest. So, looking ahead, it should be between May 6-9 the eggs should hatch and by mid May our guests should be on their way and we'll be free to roam our backyard again.
