A juvenile cardinal molting into adult plumage and with beak changes feeds at the squirrel proof feeder just before dusk. Cracking sunflower seeds without a problem in the world. Seemed very happy, comfortable and content at the feeder. Shortly after he or she left the adult male and female cardinal visited the feeders. He/she snuck in just in time!
*please note the pics are not the best as the lighting was not right. It was asking for a flash because the sun was setting quickly. I was zoomed in a bit too far as well because I could not see. I know the beak looks weird but he was cracking seeds without issue. I believe it is just the standard color changes that happen with juvenile cardinals progressing from black to orange beaks combined with the camera zoom and lighting.
