Giant Swallowtail

The Giant Swallowtail upper wings are mostly black and underwings are mostly yellow. You would hardly know it was the same butterfly if you did not know what you were looking at. The funny thing about the "Giant" Swallowtails are the Tiger Swallowtails around here are bigger. Here at the Butterfly Cafe this regular had a reservation for a fuchsia Zinnia overlooking the pool. :-)

Giant Swallowtail

The Giant Swallowtail is taking nectar from a Zinnia in our garden. The caterpillar enjoys munching on citrus leaves that are young and tender. Our neighborhood is surrounded by orange groves.
